Chicken Gyros

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp gyros seasoning
  • 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 500g boneless chicken breasts
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 8 small flatbreads or wraps, to serve
  • salad, to serve

For the tzatziki

  • 1 cucumber, grated
  • 6 mint leaves, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 200g Greek yoghurt
  • squeeze of lemon juice
  • salt and pepper, to taste

Method

  • Step 1

    Mix olive oil, gyros seasoning, garlic, salt and pepper in a large bowl.

  • Step 2

    Butterfly the chicken breasts, then pound to flatten to an even thickness. Thinly slice chicken and add to the gyros marinade along with sliced onion. Stir to coat in the flavours, then cover and place in refrigerator for 2 hours to marinate.

  • Step 3

    Insert grill plate in the unit. Place flat plate on top of grill plate so it sits flat. Close lid and select FLAT PLATE, set temperature to 200°C and set time to 10 minutes. Select START/STOP to begin preheating.

  • Step 4

    While unit preheats, mix the tzatziki ingredients together in a medium bowl until well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  • Step 5

    When the unit beeps to signify it has preheated, place chicken and onions on flat plate. Close lid and cook for 5 minutes.

  • Step 6

    After 5 minutes, use silicone tongs to move chicken around. Close lid to continue cooking.

  • Step 7

    Once cooking is complete, serve the chicken and onion on flatbreads or in wraps with salad and tzatziki.
